Annual Report on the work done in the Sanitary Branch during 1910. • .._ The appended tabular statements show the details of the work done by the sanitary officers in Port Louis and the rural districts respectively. Port Louis :—The inspections of private premises and lodging houses during the year amounted to 11,525 and 67 respectively, while those of shops, markets, bake houses, slaughterhouses and butchers'shops numbered 2,697. Special enquiries and duties as well as the supervision of cremations and exhumations, &c., were attended to by the staff on 10,117 occasions. Stables, cow-sheds, and pig-sties were the subject of 1,943 inspections and the performance of the night soil service called for 262 special controls. The number of visits to Government Establishments, public and private gratuitous latrines, cemeteries, noxious factories, camps, water courses and lavatories was 2,380. The waste lands in the town and suburbs were cleaned over an area of 449,644 square yards.
