About this work

Description

This investigation of four medical disasters occurring at four private British hospitals reveals negligence, inadequate patient care and facilities and slipshod organisation. There are, at present, no restrictions on private hospitals carrying out major surgery for which they are not equipped. There is no procedure within the private health sector for dealing with patients' grievances, litiagation being the only resort. The programme highlights the shocking inadequacies which may lie behind luxurious facades and calls for more rigorous inspection of private hospitals by the Department of Health.
