![Drains, Water Closets, etc. The usual attention has been given to these matters, and any necessary improvements have been made. Four dilapidated water closets have been re-built. Sixteen additional water closets have been provided where there was no accommodation, or where the accommodation was insufficient. One midden privy and twelve pail closets have been converted to water closets, and ten cesspools have been abolished, and in 17 cases the drainage has been relaid and connected to the sewer where the drainage was formerly to cesspools and ditches. There arc now about 100 pail closets in the Borough and many water closets draining to cesspools in outlying areas, owing to the extension of the Borough boundaries in April. Twelve hand flushed clo.sets, with proper flushing apparatus and water ■supply, have been provided, and in 23 instances pedestal basins have been provided in place of defective or obsolete basins. 134 sanitary bins have been provided to replace dilapidated ones. There are practically no ashpits in the Borough. Dn'elling Houses. Particulars of this work will be found in the Medical Officer’s Report on ])ages 23 and 24.
