Albinus has mentioned only one great pedtoral mufcle, having a fellow on the oppolite fide fupplied by a long thoracic artery of its own. We have given thefe few fpecimens, merely to fhew the reader what he may expert from a careful peru- fal of the fecond part. Important myological difco- veries, and beautiful johnbellations, grow everywhere luxuriant in the greateft abundance ; and we would advife every intelligent and afpiring young man of modeft ajfurance, who willies to be at once aftonifhed and improved, and who has any tafte for theflender, the delicate, the very pleajing; the great, the marvel- lous, the wonderful, the prodigious, the vafl, the im- menfe, or the abfolutely large—to go thither, contem- plate, admire them, and gather them, to adorn his brows with the molt fragrant rofes of fcience, and to fatiate his appetite with its mod delicious fweets. Nay, this fecond part contains a prodigious number of inftances of the true fublime. The following re- marks on the femoral artery, which we fliall give by way of fpecimen, are vwjl beautifully fublime and im- menfely pleajing. “ To enumerate all the variety of accidents which “ may affect this artery were impojjible j but furely, “ from the little that I dare venture to fay in this “ place, it mult seem one of the largefl, the mofl ex- pofed, the mofl dangerous, and by all this the mofl “ important artery in the body.” (P. 461.)
