    A alway going in the furrow, and the Shield-board end will fo humble it, as youmay lay it uponaevell ; this is beft for land of which you will make a fallow, or cut and burn the Turf, or for land you intend to lay flat to grafe. Ifthe far- row fhould be all at once turned at the very breft, then i would go juft asif you would put a Mould to rout with her breechforward; which plough I have feen, but how the fur- rowwould lie I know not, nor well what ftrength to dravv it; but then there need neither be ufe of the hinder part of the Shield-board,nor Wreft neither; or if you would have it caft all in the Shield-board,as fomedo that make no Wreft at all, then it will either not clear up the furrow well, fet the furrow upon an edge, or elfe the hinder, end of theShield- board muft whelm beyond all prefident or rule; or it you would have it made fo thin in the breaft as to cut through like a knife, and turn nothing till ic come to the midft of the Shield-board and end of the Wreftand Shield-board, then there it gives too fuddenacheck too, and caufeth the earth to choak and mouther upon the Breaft-board, that it will not {lip away with eafe ;{o chat as I faid before, a medium ir all, each member doing its particular office, preferves the health and comfort of the body. | Thefe thiugs (and many more which might be neceffary, I will forbear to fpeak to) are accounted niceties among many, the knowledge whereof hath coft me much, and therefore am able coaffirm that the very myftery of Ploughmanthip lyeth upon the knowledge and pra@tice of them, and fo] proceed to the double plough, and the defcription thereof.
