A rude difcovery I could give, but I will for- bear, left any one taking pattern by it fhould abufe him- {elf more and me in fome meafure, yet here is the my fte- ry of it; fo to pare off the husk that it may be if poflible(as the wheat isground )beflaked or flayed that it may go all one way, which fort they call the mull Madder and is little worth 5. not above nine or ten fhillings a hundred, and then you muft take out the fecond fort called the number O which is the middle rinde, and isnot worth fo much as the third fort called the Crop Madder, by one fixth part, and this crop Madder isthe very heart and pitch of it inclining to the yellow, and this lefferin quantity but better in quality by far. Sometimes the beft Madder is worth eight or nine pound a hundred, andthe number O is worth but fix pound fix fhillings o pence, or eight pound two fhillings fix pence, and fometimes it isnot worth above four pound or five pound a kun- dred, yea fometime it may cometo three pound the hun- dred poflibly, and becaufe I would not abufe the Reader, Ladvife my Madder-Planter to fend over fora work-. man;
