![FROXFIELD PARISFI. It is gratifying to report tJiat this Sclieiue was carried into effect during the past year, and that tiie service was made available during Jai^uary of this year. The water is collected from springs at Ashfox-d, in the jxarish of Steep, fi’om where it is pumped into a concrete Tower Resei’voir ei’ccted at the highest jxoint in Fi’oxfield. O.S. 813.00. The grexiter jxart of the ]iarish is served fronx this reservoir thi’ough about nine miles of mains, the service will, no doubt, be a tremendous boon to the inhabitants, es]xecially during the diy summer periods when I’ainwater storages become exhausted. The cost of the work was approximately £12,000, and the Scheme was made possible by gi-ants from the Exchequer, the County Council and the District Council. LAXGRISH PARISH. The question of pi’oviding a water supply for the parish of Langi’ish has beeix very much before your Council during the latter part of the year, and much progress has been made. The jxarish is chiefly Agricultui’al in character, and it is intei-esting to note it does not possess any source of water supply except one or two very small springs which pi’actically disappear in times of drought. Your Council resolved to proceed with the Scheme to jxi’OA'ide the po]xulated parts of the parish with a sufficient supjxl}^ of water. In tlie absence of any possible local soui'ce of supply, negotiatioixs were opened with the Petcrsfield Urban District Council, whose source extends to the District boundary at Stroxxd, and an agreement was ai-i'ived at whereby your Council may jxurchase water in bulk in order to supixly Langrish x'illage. X'egotiations were also successfxd with the Ley dene Estate, whereby water may be pux’chased in bulk for the Hamlet of Ramsdean. At the eixd of the year sanction had been obtained from the Ministry to a Loan of £2,000 to cari-y out the necessary works. The inhabitants have iix the past relied oix Rain water storage, a few wells which were found to be unfit for domestic](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b29988810_0013.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
