Gilpin and his family are admirably characterized, and the whole is indeed a most stirring scene ; you hear asit were the clatter of the horses feet, the screaming of the geese, the vociferation of the two knowing ones, (with the characteristic action of the two: whips), betting for and against time. « The admirable horsmanship and knowing look of the man in‘black, the natural action and seat of the man holding on his hat, and the very dust speaks volumes.
