RODENT CONTROL ERADICATION OP VERlilN. The North Dorset control scheme of ivhich this Council is a menher is functioning satisfactorily in the district. Disinfestation. No action was talcen during the year. Pmi£ £LI^'3BING-_.^ A fortnightly collection of all household refuse for the v;hole of the district except Beaminster parish, which has a weekly collection, was introduced in 1961 . The refuse is tipped on the Council’s dump a mile north of Beaminster town. Litter bins, provided by the Dorset County Council vdio also contribute towards the cost of collection at official laybys on trunlc and classified roads, are emptied rn the normal refuse collection rotmds. CAIiPING There is no widespread caiuping in the district. Licences v;ere granted for a few single sites on which to keep a caravan, SCHOOLS. The 14 schools in the area have been ins ected regularly; 8 have v;ater sup lies from public mains, 2 from private estate supplies, 3 from wells and 1 school obtains water from a spring which is rammed to a storage tanlc, 35 samples \rere taken for analyses by the County Council staff, 45 vrere satisfactory and 10 unsatisfactory. 12 schools have water closets and 2 pail closets.
