Works on general and special subjects are connected by cross-references, which have been made as numerous as pos- sible. Cross-references will also be found from the various epithets employed in the titles of books in the Library to some synonymous term under which all such works have been classed \e.g. “ Measles, see Rubeola; ” ‘‘ Morbilli, see Rubeola,” &c.] 8. Among the names of authors will be found any subject-headings which occur in the Library Catalogue. These have been generally marked by inverted commas \e.g. under Foemul^ (Index, p. 106), 'Pharmacopoeia,’ 'Prescriptions’ (Lib. Cat.,^anno 1856, pp. 496—501; and p. 519) q. v.~\
