    2 From Dr. DYCE, Physician to the Royal Infirmary. I certify, that I have been acquainted with Mr. Fiddes, Surgeon, for several years past; and have no hesitation in declaring it as my belief, that he is a gentleman of talent, and possessed of acquirements, both professional and general, which must make him a valuable acquisition to an Insti¬ tution where practical knowledge of the profession, as well as industry and kindness, are so essential. I hereby certify, that Mr. David Fiddes commenced the study of Medicine, as an Appren¬ tice to me, in the year 1828 ; that during the latter part of his Apprenticeship, as well as for some time after, until his passing the College of Surgeons in London, he was much engaged as an Assistant to me—especially in Dispensary practice-; and that it is my conviction, that from his knowledge of this class of Patients, his kind and obliging manner, and his sound practical acquaintance with his Pro¬ fession, his election as a Medical Officer of the General Dispensary would be acceptable to those who are the objects of its care, and conducive to their comfort and recovery.
