The opinion lie formed of it afterwards may be feen in his remarks;* which, however, were un¬ known to me when I hit upon my method of cure ; and I mud add, that fince the year 1754, I have never heard Inch a cafe mentioned in converfation by any of the faculty, except once, by Mr. Hey of Leeds, a gentleman in extenfive practice, who is a very accurate obferver, and an ornament to his profeffion. For my own part, I have made no fecret of the facts I have met with ; but, on proper occafions, made known to fome of the faculty all thofe cafes which have fallen immediately under my own care, together with my ob- fervations upon them : and as I have been the happy in- ftrument, under Providence, of relieving many afflicted perfons in'this complaint, I thought it a duty incumbent on me to communicate to the public that method of cure which I have found effectual; hoping that it will be of fervice to young practitioners in midwifery, and poffibly not unacceptable to thole of longer experience. * Medical Obfervations and Inquiries.
