About this work

Description

Top row: a woman is sitting at a desk with an angry looking man on the other side; she has her face hidden in her hands and she appears to be upset, two other men (gendarmes?) are walking past, coming in from outside. Middle row: the woman faints and the man at the desk shows concern. They leave the desk empty and the chair lying on the floor, and the two other men (now without their capes) peer through the key hole in the door. Published with legend "L'affaire s'arrangera" (the matter will sort itself out)
