    MEAT AND OTHER FOODS 3. (a) Slauqhterhouse. There is still only the one slaughterhouse In the Borough, this being privately owned. The amount of slaughtering carried out here provides more than enough meat to supply local needs, the surplus being transported to neighbouring areas. The im- pending legislation in connection with slaughter- houses will necessitate considerable improvements at the premises and the owner has already been approached concerning this matter. The following table shov/s the number of animals slaughtered at the Slaughterhouse during the year together with details of the number diseased and percentages of the number affected with tuberculosis. The second table reveals once again that the de- crease in the incidence of tuberculosis has been maintained except in the case of calves, the de- crease in the case of cows being quite considerable, '.•iith reference to the calves it will be noted al- though the incidence of tuberculosis shows an in- crease on the past three years only two carcases out of four hundred and tv/enty were thus affected.
