    useful to be situated near the window, as persons in sickness show a strong disposition to look out, although they have never previously shown any particular inclination to do so. Even a change from one part of the room to another is often desir- able, for it varies the dreary monotony which the sick often experience. An inattentive nurse never thinks of these things, yet the sick person constantly does so, for as he opens his eyes after sleep they daily fall upon the same spot on the wall, or on some other object of comparatively as little interest. No. She must ever be thinking of the patient, and endeavour to lighten his mental as well as his physical suffering. It might sometimes be possible, with the aid of one or two others, to alter the position of the bed from time to time, if the patient is unable to leave it. In some cases an easy- chair may be of decided benefit, because it may be moved about easily, and be better adapted to the peculiarity of individual cases.
