![Genera] Reo'ister Office, Somerset House, London, W.C., December, 1911. Sir, I HAVE the honour to submit a Manual of the International List of Causes of Death which has been prepared under my directions by Dr. Stevenson, Superintendent of Statistics in this Office. The object of the publication is to define the headino-s of the mortality tables in my Annual Reports, and to enable medical officers of health to prepare local tables on lines uniform both with each other and also with those recently laid down for use in the General Register Office. It is hoped, in fact, that by systematic use of this Manual the statistics of Eu^'lish mortality may be effectively defined and standardized. I have the honour to be, Sir, Tour obedient Servant, BERNARD MALLET, R e gistrar-Gen e ra I. The Right Hon. John Burns, M.P., President of the Local Government Board, Whitehall. (20'j:);i—41.)
