Engraved title and 60 full- page copperplate engravings of various mechanical appliances. One of the finest early books on machinery. Apart from some slight stains a good copy. 150 Lebrun (M.) Half green morocco. 4 folding plates at ve eos containing 139 diagrams. Interesting little ook. MSS. 151 Horae Beatae Mariae Virginis. MS. Book of Hours, written on 86 pp. of vellum by a French scribe in the second half of the 15th century, in a Gothic script, each page contains numerous decorative letters in gold and colours, some pages are missing, but the MS. constitutes a cheap and charm- ing specimen of 15th century decoration and illumination, and is in good condition, bound in calf £6 6s Bound in calf. 152 Liege. Statuta Concilii provincialis Leodiensis. MS. written on 50 pp. of vellum, measuring 6 by 4} inches, in a neat semi-Gothic hand bya 13th century scribe. An important document in ecclesiastical history. We can find no account of this 13 Concilium in Mansi and a note on the fly- leaf states that this MS. was used by the Benedictines of the Congreagtion of St. Maur who after much searching could find no copy in any library. Citron morocco. A very rare edition of Albertus Magnus’ principal medical works, the first of which resumes the sexual theories of the middle ages. A pretty copy. 155 Albinus (B. S.) The Explanation of Albinus’Anatonical Figures of the Human Skeleton and Muscles, with an Historical Account of the work. London, J. and P. Knapton, 1754 £2 10s 4to. Old boards. Together with a royal foloi of the anatomical illustrations (in boards), each one occupying a large, double-folio page. Albinus is justly renowned for this atlas of the skeleton and skeletal muscles, which was his principal work. The plates are a monument of artistic anatomical illustration, with fine backgrounds of landscapes, etc. They are classed among the best engravings of the 18th century. Albinus held the chairs of anatomy, surgery and medicine at Leyden University. 156 Argenterius (Joannes) De Sonino et vigilia libri duo, in quibus continentur duae tractationes de calido nativo et de spiritibus.
