    the lenticulo-striate, the knee portion, the lenticulo-optic, and the retro- lenticular part. Not to enter minutely into the exact division of the fibers, it need only be stated that the pyramidal tract, which is the most important and the only direct means of communication between the cerebral cortex and the spinal cord, runs in the anterior half of the lenticulo-optical portion, therefore in the posterior peduncle of the internal capsule.
