The scheme which was put into operation in January, 1929, iji eonneetion with the welfare of the jire-school child has met with a fair nu'asnre of success. As each child attains the age of 2, 3 and 4 years a note i.s sent to the itarent inviting him oi- her to bring the child to the nearest Infant Welfare Clinic for a medical examination. A definite appointment at a definite place is offered in each case, and the examina¬ tion given is on the lines of the school medical inspection. The responses to the invitations are not as numerous as one would like, and it is difficult to convince the parents of the need of a pre-school medical examination. School iMedical Inspection records show that about one out of every four children who attend elementary schools is found at the first medical examination to be suffering from some disease or defect](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30091251_0060.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
