Maternity and Child V/clfare The Maternity and Child V/elfare Scheme in the Borough is carried out by the staff of the Bexhill Nursing Association under the jr ..-rvision of the East Sussex County Council. The staff consists of four certified midwives one of whom ■.tes her time entirely to maternity work, whilst the others devote . r time betv/oen midwifery and infant health visiting. T’.vo part-time Medical Officers attend the ante-natal and .r rrnity and child welfare clinics. At the commencement of September, over 200 expectant mothers e received from evacuating areas and an Emergency Maternity Home ■' established at the Metropolitan Convalescent Home, Cooden, whore eemmodation was available for approximately 90 beds* The staff in- led a Senior Resident Medical Officer, Junior Resident Medical . ■ eer, Matron and Nursing Staff, at one time, thli-iymidwives being mr eyed..
