Royd Lodge, Commercial Street, Huddersfield, 13th Jan., 1910. Dear Mr. Barstow, Just a few lines to let you know how I am getting on. I am pleased to say that my leg is very comfortable and I get about very well indeed, and do not use a stick at all. It is very comfortable, and I certainly can use it better than ever I thought I should be able to. I shall be pleased to recommend any one to you who is unfortunate enough to lose a leg, and also to tell them of the great pains you have taken with my case, not only at the time of taking the measurements, but also when teach- ing me to walk when I was at your house. I have never been sore or had any trouble with it in ajiy way and it is quite comfortable. I am highly satisfied with it, and I shall always be pleased to recommend anyone to you for a Marks’ Leg who has had the misfortune to lose one of their own. The Villa, Riccal, near York, 16th April, 1908. Dear Mr. Barstow, The Artificial Leg I got from you nine years ago is as good as ever, and I can walk, for an old man, very well with it. It has cost me nothing in repairs, which is a very differ- ent matter to the London Legs, of which I have had two at £38 0/0 each, and which were always wanting some repairs, but there is really nothing to wear out in a Marks’ Leg, and I can confidently recommend them to anyone who requires one. In addition to this they are so “light,” and that is where also I found a great difference, as Marks’ Legs are pounds lighter than the London Legs, and this also applies to the legs I had made for me at Bradford.
