About this work

Description

Prof. Hans Eysenck's account of his life is intercut with views from his critics and defenders, who discuss his controversial pronouncements on the link between race and intelligence and his latest argument that the connection between smoking and lung cancer is an illusory one. Eysenck's lectures on race and intelligence at the London School of Economics and at Melbourne University in the 1960s were the scene of violent confrontations between the political right-wing, who seized on his arguments, and anti-racists. Eysenck compared the violent protestors to the Nazis who forced him to leave Germany. His critics in this programme include Prof. Steve Jones (University College, London) and Prof. Richard Peto (Oxford University). Adrian Furnham (Prof. of Psychology, University College, London) defends his integrity in holding to his views at the expense of advancement in his career.
