    Epilepsy assails with equal virulence, and equal frequency, both sexes; and frequently robs the tender mother of her darling child. Some may apprehend, that I have un- dertaken an arduous task, in endeavour- ing to rescue from oblivion a plant, which, i q in consequence of the prejudices excited j Pik^^rs^- against it as an object of superstition, has J ''^^^-<- been long neglected. Any attempt, how- ever, to prove before natural philoso- phers in this enlightened age, why a for- mer object of superstition should not now, if possible, be turned to advantage, would be alike to trespass upon their time, and call in question their judgment.
