Kntcliffe, in writing of the case, says : “ There is no doubt your tulles prolonge<l her life some eleven months, nine of whieh were passe<i in very tolerable comfort, and at last I think her death was cause<l more by the constitutional effect of the growth than by the want of nourishment; in fact, she was kept alive as far as in the nature of the case was {mssible.” Total duration of case, eighteen months; before tubage, seven months; after tulwige, eleven numtha ('a.**E 9. Ktrieture; xirn months' iuhngt,-^ Mr. V , ageil forty-three, was sent by Mr. Kdgar Duke, of Ht. Leonards, on May 10th, 1888. He ha*l dyspiiagia for solids since November, 1887 (six months), and was restricte*! to fluids for six weeks. He had total oljstmeiion a week previously to l>eing seen, and again a few days after* wards. On May 10th a bougie was passe<l, detecting a stricture eleven inches from the teeth. He was an un- healthy-hmking man, but bml no other eomplaint. He w'as unable to swallow even thuds. On the 13th a No. 10 short tul« was inserted, through which be swallowed freelv. Four days later he came with the tu1)e hlocke<l, and, on removing it, a piece of almond wa-s found obstructing the funnel. On the 24th a No. 14 was inserted, and he re- turned to St. Lermard-s, On June 23rd he again came to the hos]iital, looking much letter. The tnl>e was acting well.
