![Bez'oar Occidentale. Bled. The occidental bezoar, found in the fourth stomach of the chamois, or wild goat of Peru, etc.; it is larger than the oriental bezoar, and some- times as big as a hen's egg, is of a rough surface, and green, greyish, or brown. Bez'oar Orientale. Med. The oriental bezoar, found in the fourth stomach of the Capra cegagrns, which inhabits the mountains of Persia; it is about the size of a Iddney bean, roundish, or oblong, smooth, and of a shining olive, or dark greenish colour; also called Lapis bezoar orientalis. Bez'oar Porcinum, Med. A name for the Bezoar hystricis. Bez'oar Simiae. Med. The bezoar of the monkey; also called Lapis simice. Bezoar Vegetable. See Calapitte. Bezoar'dica Radix. Bot. A name for the Dorstenia contrayerva. Bezoar'dlcuin Joviale. Pharm. Name for an old preparation made by fusing regulus of antimony with tin in a crucible, i-educing to powder when cold, mixing intimately with corrosive sublimate, distilling the mix- ture after some days, and mixing the dis- tilled liquor with a large quantity of water, by which a white powder is precipitated, washing the precipitate repeatedly, drying it and detonating with nitre, again carefully washing and drying; it was powerfully diaphoretic in doses of gr. x. to Qi. Bezoar'dicuin Lunare. Pharm. Name for a medicine made by distilling butter of anti- mony vnih a solution of nitrate of silver; deemed of great efficacy in epilepsy and various affections of the head, dose gr. vi. to gr. xii.; also applied as a name for the Pulvis Viomensis albus virgineus. See. Bezoar'dicum Martiale. Pharm. Term for an old preparation made in the same way as the B. Joviale, only substituting iron for tin ; formerly used as tonic and diaphoretic, dose gr. xv. to gr. xxv. Bezoar'dicum Minerale. Pharm. Name for an old preparation of antimony made by detonating powder of algaroth with nitre, and washing the product, which is a deut- oxide of antimony. Bezoar'dicum Satur'ni. Pharm. Tei-rn for an old preparation made by distilling protoxide of lead and butter of antimony, with nitric acid; formerly given in doses of gr. vi. in diseases of the spleen. Bezoar'dicus, a, um. {Bezoar, or Bezehard, an intestinal concretion; terminal -?cms.) Med. Of or belonging to the bezoar: hezoar'<hc. Fr. anal, hezoardique, adj. Gemi. anal, mit Bezoar versetzt. See Diss. div. ii. s. vi. t. G. Bezoar'dicus La'pis. Mtd. A name for the Beznar. Bezoar'dus, i, m. Med. A name for the Be- zoar hominis, admitted by Dr. Good as a species of his genus Enterolithus. A syllable signifying twice or double, and forming a prefix in certain compound names, as biceps, two-headed ; b/cx.sjj/.s, two-pointed ; bicar- bonate, a carbonate with an excess of acid, or two equivalents of caibonic acid, to one of base, etc. Biarghetun'sim. (Arab.) Chem. Alchemical name for Cerussa. Ruland. Bibas'ic. (Bis, twice; teis,abase; terminal -icus.) Chem. Having two bases, as the Tartras potassce et soda, or Rochelle salt. Bibiisicus, a, um. See Diss. div. ii. s. vi. t. C. Fr. anal, bibasique, adj. Bibenella, See Pimpinella. Bib'eron. (B?&o, to drink.) Med. Name pro- posed for a feeding-bottle for infants. Bibitorius, a, um. {BWtor, a drinker.) Of or belonging to a drinker: bibito'rious. Anat. Applied to the Rectus internus oculi, be- cause when exerted it di'aws the eye towards the nose, like that of a drinker looking into his cup. Bib'ulus, a, um. {B'lbo, to drink.) Attracting moisture; absorbing: bib'ulous. Bicapsiilaris, is, e. {Bis, twice, or double; capsula, a capsule.) Bot. Having two cap- sules : bicap'sular; applied to pericai-ps. Fr. anal, bicapsulaire, adj. Germ. syn. zwei- facherig, adj. Bicar'bSnas, atis, f. (Prefix Bi; carbdnas, a carbonate.) Chem. Term for a combina- tion of carbonic acid with a base, where th ere are two atoms of the former to one of the latter: a bicar'bonate. See Note, Carbon. Bicaudalis, is, e. (Bis,double; cauda, a,ted].) Anat. Having two tails; double-tailed; bicau'dal; apj)lied sometimes to the Pos- terior auris, or Retrahens aiiris muscle, which consists of two small bundles or fas- ciculi of fibres. Anat. A name for the two portions of the Triceps extensor cubiti, otherwise called Anconeus major, and A. externus. Biceps Flex'or Cruris. Anat. The double- headed bender of the leg; a name for a muscle ou the back of the thigh, whose use is to bend the leg ; it is also called simply Biceps, and Biceps cruris, and forms what is termed the outer ham-string. Biceps Flex'or Cii'biti. Anat. The double- headed bender of the arm, or fore-arm ; a name for a muscle on the fore part of the Os humeri, whose use is to turn the hand supine, and to bend the fore arm ; it is also called simply Biceps, Bicejis brachii, B. in- ternus, B. intermis humeri, B.
