    ADVERTISEMENT. At a public meeting of the Inhabitants, seven Gentlemen were elected to form a Committee for carrying out the objects which have led to this Report. Four of these were lay-members, and three medical men. Professor Hofmann was requested to undertake the Chemical investigation, and the Committee has now the pleasure of publishing his results. Some remarks similar to those which are appended seemed necessaiy in the judgment of the Committee to make this Report complete and useful; and though expressed in very general terms, it is trusted that they will prove satisfactory.
