    Vital Statistics. Births. Deaths. Inquests. Tables. 1. The district is divided into the sub-registration districts of Bedale and Masham. The following tables shew the number of births and deaths registered in 1904, with their respective rates, together with the corresponding returns for the previous year, and the average rates for the preceding ten years. Death-rate per 1,000 for preceding ten years—13'78. 100 Ten Inquests were held, the verdicts returned being:—“Found Drowned,” 2; “Found Dead— Natural Causes,” 2; “Accidental Burns,” 1 : “Injury by Fall from Trap,” 1; “Injury by Fall of Earth.” 1; “ Cirrhosis of Liver,” 1 ; “ Natural Causes,” 1 ; “ Suicide by Hanging,” 1. Suicide was also added to the verdict in one other case. The following tables shew :—(I.) Vital Statistics of the whole district during 1904 and the ten preceding years. (II.) Vital Statistics of the whole district and of the sub-registration districts. (III.) Cases of Infectious Diseases. (IV.) Causes of and ages at death during the year 1904. The increased population noted under 1895 and the following years marks the addition of four townships from the Ripon Union to your district. The above tables are required by tlie Local Government Board. In pursuance of the plan adopted in previous reports we ha,ve added thi-ee supplementary tables, viz. :—(I.)
