    10 PARLIAMENTARY BILLS. Metropolitan Railway (Park Railway and Parliament Street Improvement). On the 3rd April, 1884, the Clerk reported that the Solicitor to the above Bill had consented to insert a provision in the Bill for the purpose of making good any deficiency in the rates during- the construction of the line. On the 20th May, the Select Committee reported to the House of Commons that the Preamble of the Bill had not been proved. Waterworks Clauses Act (1847) Amendment. By this Bill it is proposed that the annual value of any tenement supplied with water shall mean the net annual value as settled from time to time by the local authority duly constituted. On the 17th April, 1884, it was resolved to request the Borough Members to support the same. London Government. On the 1st May, 1884, the Vestry resolved to petition against this Bill, and to convene a meeting of Ratepayers of the parish to discuss its provi sions; the Meeting was held at the Vestry Ilall on the 14th of the same month, when Resolutions condemnatory of the principles of the Bill were carried. The Bill was withdrawn on the 10th July, 1884. Dwelling Houses Inspection. It was resolved to petition against this Bill on the 1st May, 1884. Metropolitan Board of Works (Fire Brigade Expenses). A Petition praying that the Metropolitan Board's powers of rating in respect of such expenses should be limited to 1 d. in the £. was resolved to be forwarded on 1st May, 1884. The Bill was subsequently dropped.
