    the Managers of the latter Asylum refused to receive him, and the attempt to remove Richardson had thus proved abortive. Visitors on tho 19th'Juy, 1880, resolve to appoint a second Medical Officer. On the 19tli of July last it was resolved: “That a second Medical Officer be appointed for the Asylum, at a Salary of £100 per annum, with Board and Lodging.” Advertisements for Candidates inserted. Advertisements for Candidates to fill the Office were subsequently inserted in the Lancet and British Medical Journal, and in reply thereto 17 applications were received, which were referred to a Special Sub-Committee. Mr. Robt. J. Boyd elected second Medical Officer. They selected four candidates, who accordingly attended a meeting of your committee, held on the 25th October last, when the choice of the Visitors finally fell on Mr. Robert John Boyd, 25 years of age, of Southall Park, Middlesex, Licentiate of the Colleges of Physician sand Surgeons, Edinburgh, and he shortly after commenced the duties of his office. General Rules'of A Sub-Committee was on the 25tli of October the Asylum revised. ]as£ appointed to revise the General Rules of the Asylum rendered necessary by the appointment of an Assistant Medical Officer.
