Perhaps a general relaxation of habit, and a peculiar degree of irritability in the /ymphatic fy/flem, which may be produced by our hot climate and other local circumftances. But can any reafon be affigned why thefe predifponent caufes fhal] have exifted of late years more than formerly ; or why they fhould be pe- culiar to Barbadoes, and not common to the neighbouring s/lands.
