    PREFACE TO THE SIXTH EDITION In this, as in the Fifth Edition, the original arrangement is retained. Some new preparations, which are now in general use by veterinary practitioners, have been added. The whole work has been carefully revised, and some alterations have been made to bring it as nearly as possible into line with the ‘ British Pharmacopoeia,’ 1898. In addition to this, reference has been made to Shoemaker’s ‘ Materia Medica and Therapeutics,’ Gress- well’s ‘Veterinary Pharmacopoeia,’ and Winslow’s ‘ Veterinary Materia Medica and Therapeutics.’ I have especially to express my indebtedness to my former colleague, Professor Macqueen, for the valuable assistance I have derived from the Tenth Edition of Finlay-Dun’s ‘ Veterinary Medicines’ (edited by Professor Macqueen) in the correction and bringing up to date the
