![We can clearly trace the rife and progrefs of the difeafe at that place to this veffelj [Note M.] and al- fo the firfl; appearance of it in forae other parts of the city to perfons who had been on board her. On the fixth day of Auguft, the College recom- mended to the managers of the Marine and City hofpitals, that all the velTels lying between Walnut and Spruce ftreets lliould be removed to a proper diftance from the city ; inftead of which they were dillributed indiferiminately to the other wharves, except in one inftance, mofl of them being fent to the upper parts of the city. I From the many fources of contagion above enu- merated, exifting at the fame time, and being fo generally fpread, it is not furprifing that the difeafe had fuch an extenfive operation; and it is to this extraordinary circumftance that we alfo aferibe the introduftion and prevalence of this difeafe at Chef- ter, [Note O.] Wilmington and Marcus-hook.
