    It has been found that a much better spirit has pervaded the student group and the training inspectors, with this larger group of trainees, than pertained in years gone by when the number of students was small. The Department has carried practical training of the 15 students in its stride and the practical training scheme has had a salutory effect upon the Department. The present establishment of public health inspectors in Leeds is 57 and there are at present 8 vacancies. It is estimated that the staff will be up to establishment in 2 years and that thereafter a portion of the inspectors trained in Leeds will be available to other authorities.
