![5 md s]]?wisim_oziow. mg The Chief Public Health Inspector continued to act as the agent of the County ^fedical Officer for the purpose of inspection^ supervision and sampling at the pasteurising plant which is established in the district. In addition;, routine sampling was carried out of pasteurised millc which, is available from four sources outside the Urban District, Pull details of this aspect of the Dopartment’s work are given later by the Chief Public Health Inspector, ADULTERATION OF FOOD The Siirrey County Council continued to administer the sections of the Food and Drugs Act^ 193S dealing with the adultera- tion of food, I am indebted to the County Medical Officer of Health for the information that a total of 77 samples fcr analysis were taken in this district. These included 57 samples of milk the remainder consisting of miscellaneous articles of foodstuffs aiid drugs. Two samples of milk and one each of a soft drink, of sugar and of confectionary did not comply with requirements. The information was also given that within the area of the Uomty in which the County Council acts as Food and Drugs authority a total of 968 samples wore taken for analysis, including 7l8 of milk. Forty-two samples were found to be below standard, 21 of these being of milk. Successful legal proceedings were taken against a farmer for selling Chennel Islands milk deficient in milk fat.
