![Water Supply]hdiS been good in the lower parts ot the town in quality and quantity, although liable to slight discolouration after rain. A scheme has b en got out for supplying the higher part of the town and improving the general supply. Dr. Cranstoun points out the necessity for (i) a proper system of medical inspection of school children ; (2) the training of girls and young parents in the elements of hygiene ; (3) careful supervision of children of the podr carried out by regular visits to their homes by a trained nurse. S werage.—The new sewage scheme is now complete, the water carriage system is being extended and the provision of a further supply of water is thus made imperative. Advice is given with regard to the laying of drains. It is recommended that every joint should stand the water test. House Accommodation.—During the year the medical officer of health has advocated acting under the Housing of the Working Classes Act where necessary. Disposal of Refuse.—The refuse is now satisfactorily disposed of, being carted to Portman Meadow. Dairies, Cowsheds, and Milkshops. These have been inspected ; the cowsheds are still capable of improvement. Inspection of Workshops, etc.—The general sanitary condition of the bakehouses is good ; certain improvements have been carried out.
