![ON DISEASES OF THE HIP-JOINT ; WITH OBSERVATIONS ON AFFECTIONS OF THE JOINTS IN. THE PUERPERAL STATE. WITH PLATES. Second Edition, 8v0, with Additions and Alterations, price 7s. The present edition of this work will be found to differ very materially in form from the first, and to have received considerable additions. The alteration in the arrangement I have adopted in deference to suggestions which appeared to me judicious, and with a view to make the work more readily available in practice. I have treated more fully than in the former edition of the affections with which the disease of the hip may be confounded ; and I have added a chapter (which may be of value for the cases it contains) on the puerperal affections of the joints, to which, according to M. Dugés, the hip is more than any other liable.—Eviract from Preface to Second Edition. CONTENTS :— Chap. I.—On the Diseases of the Hip-joint ; Symptoms, Morbid Anatomy, Pathology, Causes, and various Plans of Treatment. Chap. I1.—On Nervous Affections of the Hip-joint, including Hysterical Affections, Sciatica, and Paralysis of the Lower Extremities, especially in Children during Denti- tion; their Symptoms, Pathology, and Treatment. Chap. I1J.—On Carcinoma, Fungus Hematodes, and Medullary Exostosis of the Hip-joint. Chap. IV.—On Congenital Affections of the Hip-joint, comprising Congenital Displacement of the Head of the Femur, Malposition of the Acetabulum, shortening of the Psoas Magnus and Iliacus Internus, and occasional Difference in the Length of the Lower Extremities. Chap. V.—On Puerperal Affections of the Joints ; Symptoms, Morbid Anatomy, Pathology, Causes, and Treatment ; several Cases with the Dissections. “ This Treatise is extremely creditable to the diligence and genius of Mr. Coulson, and must tend to establish his character as a zealous surgeon and pathologist.”—Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal. “ This Work will be found valuable to the pathologist, from the description of dissections obtained in the early stage of the disease, and which we do not recollect to have seen in any other work.” —Dublin Journal of Medical Sciences. —[ Notices of First Edition.] “The Work is evidently written by a man of sound practical information, by one who has pursued with ardour the numerous phenomena of the diseases in question, has carefully weighed the opinions and researches of other authors, and has left no effort untried to produce as complete a volume as the state of knowledge in this department of pathology admits.” —Lancet, Feb. 6, 1841.— [Notice of Second Edition. } ON DEFORMITIES OF THE CHEST AND SPINE. WITH NUMEROUS PLATES AND WOODCUTS. Second Edition, considerably enlarged, 8vo, price 6s. «¢ We strongly recommend this volume to our surgical brethren. Mr. Coulson seems to have devoted much attention to the subject, and has handled it well.’’ — Medico-Chirurgical Review. GOULSON’S EDITION OF BLUMENBACH’S COMPA- RATIVE ANATOMY. Second Edition, Enlarged and Improved, 8vo. Price 14s. “The best elementary work on Comparative Anatomy which we yet possess.” —Supplement to the Encyclopedia Britannica : (Art. Animal Anatomy.)
