![Submitted and read, the annexed letters : — “ Belfast District Hospital for the Insane, February 24th, 1854. “ Sir,—I beg calling your particular attention to the enclosed copy of a letter, received this date, from the Contractors who supply the Institution with bread, in which they give notice that the supply, after this month, will be discontinued for the reasons therein stated; and to request ac¬ cordingly, that you will be pleased immediately to inform me the course to be pursued under circumstances so very urgent and pressing. I may take this opportunity also of stating that the house is similarly situated with the several other Contractors, who, not having been paid their accounts as usual, for the month of January last, may cease at any time to supply milk, meat, &cq and that parties to whom accounts in ordinary are owed, are becoming importunate for payment. And further, that according to the copies of the Resolutions of the Board, forwarded to you on the 6th instant, it will be seen that a special meeting was directed to be summoned when an answer arrived to them, but that none having been received, no meeting can take place till the stated monthly one, on the 6th proximo, so that, in the meantime, it is absolutely requisite for the support of the inmates, to know what is to be done. — I am, Sir, your obedient servant, Robert Stewart, Resident Physician. “ The Clerk of the Council, Council Office, Dublin Castle.” [copy of letter referred to above.] “ Newry, 23d February, 1854. “ Sir,—In consequence of the terms of our Contract having been broken through by the non-payment of our account for bread for the last month, we hereby give you notice that we will not continue to supply the Lunatic Asylum with bread after this month; and as we have no wish to put you to any inconvenience, we give you this notice, that you may make other arrangements for your future supply.—Yours very respect¬ fully, Kidd, Brothers. “ Dr. Stewart, Lunatic Asylum, Belfast.” “ Immediate. “ Council Office, Dublin, 28th February, 1854. “ Sir,—I am directed to acquaint you that an Order in Council was this day made for Issues to the Governors and Directors of the Belfast District Lunatic Asylum, for the periods herein set forth, viz :— Issue for Quarter ended 31st December, 1853, . - - £898 1 8 Issue for Quarter to end 31st March, 1854, - 1,037 10 0 In these Issues provision has been made for the sums necessary for the payment of the salaries of the several Chaplains.
