    From, JOHN ADAMSON, Esq., M.D., St. Andrew's. St. Andrew’s, 17 th May, 1852. Being requested to state my opinion of Dr. Anderson’s quali- fications for the Chair of Practice of Medicine now vacant in the University of Glasgow:— I can say that having had occasional professional intercourse with him for several years, and having often noticed the manner in which he has conducted the Oral Examinations in Practice of Medicine, of the candidates for the Degree of M.D. in the University of St. Andrew’s, 1 know that he is possessed of an extensive and scientific acquaintance with this subject, and also that he has a fluent and lucid manner of expressing his ideas. From those and other estimable qualities possessed in a high degree by Dr. Anderson, I consider him to be worthy of the highest professional position, and believe that if he is elected to this Chair he will prove an active, a popular, and very successful Professor. JOHN ADAMSON, M.D. From THOMAS THOMSON, Esq., M.D., F.R.S., Professor of Chemistry in the University of Glasgow Glasgow, 19th May, 1852. That Dr. Andrew Anderson attended the Medical Classes in the College of Glasgow, that his attention and industry were very considerable, that after the usual Examinations he had conferred upon him by the College the degree of M.D., and that he was for a considerable time House Surgeon and House Medical Attendant in the Royal Infirmary of Glasgow. That after becoming a Member of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons, he commenced practice in Glasgow, that he has been for several years Andersonian Professor of Medicine, and has delivered lectures very instructive and very satisfactory to the Students, and that I consider him as a young man of excellent abilities and uncommon industry.
