The translator calls himself the American Lin Pao-lo, i.e., Paul Lin. If we assume that he was a missionary there may be a connection with F. P. This seems to be [David Ames] Wells' principles of chemistry, inorganic part trans-lated by John Glasgow Kerr (1824- 1901), Canton 1871. (BL: 15252.d.l0); Kerr was an American medical missionary sent by the Presbyterian Church. He arrived at Hong Kong in 1854. The Chinese co-translator was Ho Liao- jan from Canton. According to Chinese Recorder 7.1876, 193: published in Canton in 1870. 288 leaves. Vol. 4 is mentioned in Chinese Recorder. 6.1875,239. 28 (19) X 16 (13) cm.
