    9 Revision of previous work. Verbs: regular in -er, -ir, -re, and those with orthographic peculiarities, ¢.g. jeter, appeler, etc.* Common irregular verbs. avoir, (¢c) reflexives ; pronoun objects before and after verb if not already overtaken in the first year. infinitive (i) without preposition, (ii) with 4, (111) with de ; these should include (a) common modal verbs, (b) distinction between c’est diffi- cile 2 faire, il est difficile de le faire, and (c) expressions of joy and sorrow. perfect tenses after “if” and “when” ; and the use of “‘depuis”; “whether” (=si) may be added. up from 4, (a) and (c), with a few conjunctions added—this should be developed chiefly from examples met with in texts. conversational style and between past definite and imperfect in narrative style ; this should be handled chiefly from reading material. Pronouns and adjectives, possessive and inter- rogative. Irregular comparison of common adjectives and adverbs. Cardinal and ordinal numbers, and dates. Revision of previous work, amplifying examples. Subjunctive further practised as previously out- lined: craindre, avoir peur que, should be added.
