[t contains details of 3794 appointments to the boards of NHS trusts, Health Authorities, Special Health Authorities and Non-departmental Public Bodies for which | am responsible. People appointed to these bodies come from many walks of life but share a commitment to public service and helping us to improve the nation’s health. They bring with them a wide range of skills and experience from the cutting edge of medical research to family experience as a user or carer. Many also have a fine record of service to their community in other spheres. Together they ensure that our public bodies provide sound stewardship of public funds, develop appropriate strategies or provide expert advice and, by representing the views of the community, retain the confidence of the public they serve.
