Segment 1. The first mother shown was unable to feed her first baby and is pregnant with her second. She has inverted nipples. Before the birth, she is shown massaging and cleaning her nipples, then sucking the nipples out with a breast pump. A 'Natural Nursing Nipple Shield' is also used. The treatment is successful and she is shown breastfeeding her baby. The second mother does not produce much breast milk. After feeding the baby from both breasts, the baby is weighed and then formula is prepared to make up the difference. Time start: 00:00:00:00 Time end: 00:06:29:12 Length: 00:06:29:12
Segment 2. The mother also pumps her breasts by hand ('expressing') to produce milk. She is shown massaging her breasts and sponging with alternate hot and cold water. The third case is a 'typical case of flabby breasts with an insufficient milk supply'. The mother massages her breasts, applies starch powder and performs exercises. The film ends with an intertitle stating 'the most important factor for successful breast feeding is that the mother should be calm and believe in her power to fulfil her natural functions'.
