About this work

Description

"These cards provide and informal, non-threatening way of talking to young people with cystic fibrosis (CF), to find out what they already know. The cards are not a test, but are designed as a series of questions from another child with CF who knows nothing, but wants to find out about the illness. When they answer the card questions, young patients can reveal their knowledge, without facing direct personal questions. In this way, the cards highlight how much they know about their illness, any misconceptions they may have and any extra information they need. The cards have been used with CF patients from age 4 to 18. We suggest you present the full card sequence to the child, using a gentle prompt, for example "Can you tell Sam any more?" or "Is there any more Sophie should know?". When all cards have been presented, you can revisit a particular card to ask if more information is needed, or to give more accurate information if necessary."-- From back of folder and slipcase.
