From the 1st day of April, 1881. mid uatil further notice, the Attendants will be divided into three classes, viz., First, St-cond, and Third. The pa}' of First Class Attendants will be at the rate of .£35 a year, increasing to £40 a year bv an annual increase of £1. The pay of Second Class Attendants will be at the rate of £30 a year, increasing to £34 a year by an annual increase of £]. The pay of Third Class Attendants will be at the rate of £26 a year for the first three months, at the rate of £27 a year for the second three months, at the rate of £28 a year for the third three months, and at the rate of £29 a year after that date. .Vttendants of the First Class are those who have been promoted to the charge of a Ward, and retained in that office. Attendants of the Second Class are those who are not in the charge of a Ward but who have bLcn for upwards of one year in the service of thi.s As\ luni. and whoso conduct has merited promotion from the Third Cla.<s. An Attendant placed temporarily in the charge of a Ward during the absence, for such reason as is approved of by the Superin- tendent, of the First Class Attendant of the Ward, will not receive extra pay ibr the performance of this duty, but such time, if it exceed seven davs at one time, will, subject in each case to the sanction of the Superintendent, be permitted to count as time served in the First Glass, if he should be promoted to the Fi7-sl Class.
