    nuisances ; 304 and 187 visits were made for other causes ; and 31 visits were made to factories in regard to rivers pollution. He also assisted to test drains on 28 occasions. Nuisances were abated in workshops to the number of 144, and 171 in factories, not including 61 river pollutions abated at the latter. Bakehouses. The following visits have been made to bakehouses by the Ward inspectors during the year 1897. Central Ward 46 visits to 34 bakehouses; North 73 to 38 ; North-East 63 to 32; East 48 to 12; South 30 to 8; East Hunslet 59 to 16; West Hunslet 15 to 8; Holbeck 18 to 6; Mill Hill 36 to 16; West 24 to 10; North-West 16 to 12; Brunswick 96 to 28; New Wortley 41 to n ; Armley and Wortley 23 to 9; Bramley 55 to 13 ; Headingley 26 to 18.
