Total, 1897. — 570 5 2 •169 5 751 In addition to the above, 340 persons have been removed to Gildersome Home, 520 to Manston Cottages, 86 to Beckett Street, 49 to Manston Hall, and 26 from Manston Hall to Fever Hospital. Total removals, 1,772. Flushing. During the 52 weeks of the year six carts, each with two attendants, have been employed flushing house drains. In this period 30,948 house drains, 7,717 water closets, and 45,759 outside drains have been flushed, making a total of 84,424. In addition to this, two men have been employed putting an iron solution into tanks connected with the sewers, and in this manner 20,180 gallons of disinfecting solution have been allowed to trickle into certain of the sewers.
