I’he hiftory of the Count de Moffet as lately detailed by Dr. dc Carro affords a moft inflruflivc Icflbn on the fubjedf. The greateft care therefore fhould be em- ployed to warn the Native Practitioners, that the vaccine matter may be degraded by many caufes, and that their utmoft attention is neceflary to pre- vent it. We can affirm from our own knowledge, that this Government have anxiouOy affifted our wifhes for procuring the vaccine difeafe by the way of Buf- fora. They reprefented to Lord Elgin the impor- tance of it to this great fociety of mankind, and they called for the aid of the Refidents of Buffora and Bagdad. Doftor de Carro of Vienna, who has diftinguifhed himfelf lb honourably in this career, tranfmitted in the firft inftance the vaccine matter to Lord Elgin, who fcveral times before had Biewn us his attention to the fubjcCl. By his Lord' Ihip's orders it was fent to our Rcfident at Bagdad, and again to the Refident at Buffora. To both thofe Gentlemen the public are under great obli- gation for rhe intcreft they took in the fubjc(ft. Fi- nally it fell into the hands of Dr. Short and Mr. Milne as we have already faid, nor could it have been more fortunacedy placed.
