This may be followed by a spray tower where the gases will be in contact with a disinfectant hypochlorite or phenolic spray before being released. While this can, based on an adequate risk assessment, be acceptable for a large-scale installation, smaller-scale users should consider the overall cost of such a system compared with the use of cartridge filters which will provide at least the same reduction in organisms. Consideration must be given to the disposal of the disinfectant in accordance with appropriate legislation.
