Description

First page (first half-folio) of Yinying bianfang (Practical and Convenient Prescriptions), juan (volume) 1. Yinying bianfang was compiled by Pan Zhipan and revised by Xu Zhao in the Ming period (1368-1644). It is divided into two juan. The first includes a discussion of medication with regard to times and occasions, procedures for gathering chrysanthemums, verses on physiognomy, methods for preserving health and warding off disease, and a meditation practice involving a supernatural sword. The second contains elixirs of longevity and vitality and over 500 remedies for a variety of diseases.
