Complete pack of 52 engraved cards in the style of those of the Popish Plot, the Court cards named; the events begin on the knave of clubs “ Ld. Chancellor con- deming Protestants in the West,’ which is numbered 1, and from this all the cards are numbered in order apart from the sequence of the suits, plain backs ** Extremely rare, apart from an imperfect pack in the Hodgkin collections no other is known as it is unrepre- sented either in the Schreiber or Phillips collections. Playing Cards: The Rye House Plot of 1683. Complete pack of 52 engraved cards in the style of those of the other Plots, the Court cards named; on the king of diamonds: “ The places mentioned for killing ye King,” and on the VI of hearts: “Ld. Russell beheaded in Inncolnes Inn Feilds,’ plain backs ** Extremely rare. The only other pack which has been sold in these rooms was an imperfect pack of 40 out of 52.
